I have been a performing bellydancer since August 2001. I began my training with the Desert Moon Dance Academy of St. Louis. I also take several seminars a year taught by highly acclaimed dancers and instructors such as Hadia, Faten Salama, Bozenka, Nourhan Sharif and Shareen el Safy. I was a co-director, performer and instructor for Flowers of Araby from 2005-2008
I strive to make dancing fun for myself and those around me. I love teaching choreographies and try to break them down well enough for everyone to understand. I enjoy teaching one on one in class so that no one is left behind. I think women can benefit greatly from this dance. I know I have. Dancing has improved my self esteem and co-ordination and allows me to express myself in fun and creative ways.
My goal is to show people that "belly dancing" is not a form of striptease. Through my dancing and teaching I want to educate people to appreciate Middle Eastern dance for the highly respectable art form it is. The best way to do that is to get out and perform the dance with dignity and grace!
